BellSouth (BAPCO)

[VB5, Access 97, FileMaker, Crystal Report 6, DB2 and Infomix]

Analyzed, designed, and implemented a Yellow Pages Competitor Analyzing and Tracking Application. The full project cycle was managed, conducted and done by myself, with the client one on one.


Duties includes:
  • Convert and clean a Macintosh FileMaker data to MS Access 97.
  • Designed and created a new database structure in MS Access 97 database.
  • Created the required tables in Unix Server Infomix database by using dbAccess.
  • Upload the Data from MS Access Database to Informix database through ODBC.
  • The Application is Internet Enabled. (Email, FTP, and Browse documents and data.)

The application was implemented as a 3 tier application:
Client Tier:
  • Browse the BellSouth Directories Data online.
  • Manipulate related BellSouth Competitors Data: Query, print customized and online Reports and Export/Import Data from/to different document types.
  • The Client Interface communicates with the Server Business Object (ActiveX EXE) by DCOM Services.

Middle Tier: (Windows NT Server 4)
  • Created two Business Objects (ActiveX EXE),
  • Security and Data Manipulation. Access Tables and call Stores Procedures from Informix database and send results to client interface.
  • Installed IIS3 and created an FTP and Web Server with Console Manager.
  • The Business Objects communicates with the Unix Server Informix Database OLE-DB ADO 1.5.

3rd Tier: (Unix Server Informix database)
  • Contains all the Directories Competitors Database tables.
  • Creates Store Procedures, Triggers, and Views, for data integrity, flexibility, and for any future modifications and updates
